Proud To Be Canadian!

Today I think the entire country came to a standstill just to watch the Canadians take on the USA.  It was bound to be a great match up, really how could it not be?!?!  I love hockey, the Calgary Flames are my home team, and of course Team Canada!  I watched it when the USA won the first game against Canada and I was crushed, how could this be?  It’s our game, we are supposed to win this one.  But, in true Canadian fashion we battled through, won all the games that we had to win and who do we have to play for the gold medal, you got it the USA.

C and I were invited over to my brother in laws house to watch the game (thanks Rob!) they have a great theater room so it’s just like you’re there.  We all sat down and watched and waited and I’ll admit did some praying too.  We were winning gold was ours 2-0, then it’s 2-1, then with 30 seconds left the Americans score…..OH MY GOD……did that just happen??  We were stunned, how did this happen?  Then overtime, it was fast, it was furious and then Sid the kid popped one in….GOLD!!  The whole country cheered, and hugged and cried.  They did it, it was amazing to watch our guys and our country come together and celebrate.  If you didn’t have a tear in your eye watching this happen well then we are going to have make you watch it all over again, it’s impossible.  Impossible.  not to have had at least a tear.

Then a friend of mine had a post on her facebook with a link to Brian Williams and his Thank you note to Canada, you really should go read it.

The Olympic’s have never something that I watch, but this year I watched a little more and I definitely heard a lot more (thanks Facebook) about what was going on.  Did you know that Canada has won the most gold ever for a Winter Olympic’s.  EVER.  That’s pretty fantastic!

Eh Oh Canada Go!!

Manuella Pararas-Hulbert - Oh Jenny, as a fellow canuck, I definitely can relate, i too watched the game and felt the jubilation when we won, but not after feeling like someone punched me in the stomach when the US tied. I never used to watch the olympics much but as I get older, I find I’m watching more, and this year I was hooked. Wether it was curling, speek skating, skiing, or our ever loved sport hockey, I was glued to the tv and am so sad that the games are over, but I’m left feeling like one proud Canadian and looking forward to 2014, watch out world, the Canadians are going to rock the podium again in 4 yrs!!
